Most American guinea hens are tough and generally unenjoyable, as the breed mainly protects farms from pests. But not in France – the French guinea hen, or pintade, is an entirely different culinary experience.
Juicy, flavorful, and not gamey at all, our Heritage Guinea Hen is from the finest French ISA Essor breed, and raised in the wide open farms of North Carolina.
Beyond sustainably farming – our butcher is sustainably sourcing. Our butcher works alongside independent farms to introduce their meats to new markets. They then go a step beyond, by meaningfully investing in the success of family-owned ranches up and down the West Coast.
They advise the small farms they partner with on heritage breeding, feed selection, the logistics of humane slaughter, and efficient distribution. Our farms are audited, annually, by CCOF Organic, Land to Market™ Regenerative, Certified Humane, Non-GMO Project Verified, and American Grass-fed and Grass-finished.
Our hens are slowly raised in small houses on small farms in small flocks. The birds are grown a minimum of 75 days – much longer than other commercial birds. This ensures that the birds are happier, healthier, and much more tastier.
