The Lounge Chair That Expanded the Brief

Part lounge chair, part personal landscape.

Inspired by Percival Lafer’s 1970s design, this piece challenges the idea that seating had to be static or self-contained. The extended platform turns a chair into a destination — somewhere to set down a drink, a book, or simply stay longer.

• Companion table integrated into the silhouette
• Mixed materials with exposed construction details
• Genuine cowhide upholstery and saddle leather accents
• Black walnut frame with polished steel structure
• Brazilian modernism with a more relaxed posture

Materials

Black Walnut
The visible wood structure is crafted from black walnut with softly rounded profiles and exposed joinery. Rich grain variation adds warmth against the cooler metal frame.

Polished Stainless Steel
A polished stainless steel base supports the chair with a visual lightness that contrasts the heavier natural materials above. Tubular elements reference mid-century engineering while keeping the overall footprint open.

Cowhide Leather Upholstery
The upholstered surfaces are finished in natural cowhide leather, selected for texture and variation. No two pieces wear exactly the same, giving each chair its own character.

Saddle Leather Support
Structural leather panels suspend and support the seat while introducing a subtle contrast in finish and tone.

Design

• The companion table extends the footprint without interrupting the seating experience.
• Suspended leather construction creates softness without visual bulk.
• Exposed fasteners and structural elements celebrate assembly rather than conceal it.
• Low proportions and generous width encourage longer stays and more casual use.
• The mixed-material palette balances warmth, polish, and texture.

Dimensions

• Width: 59.5 in (150 cm)
• Depth: 26.5 in (67 cm)
• Height: 29.5 in (75 cm)

Not Just a Chair

The integrated companion table turns a seat into a complete personal zone.

Brazilian Modernism, Relaxed

Less rigid than European modernism, with more emphasis on comfort and material expression.

Suspended Construction

Leather supports and floating surfaces create a softer sit and lighter appearance.

Texture as Architecture

Hair-on-hide, walnut, and polished steel each play an equal role in defining the silhouette.
