The Chair That Made Steel Feel Human

The Marcel Breuer–era cantilever became one of modernism’s most recognizable ideas: less furniture as object, more furniture as line. This chair builds on that language but softens it — replacing taut surfaces with channel-filled cushioning and turning industrial tubing into something you actually want to spend an afternoon in.

The result sits somewhere between a lounge chair and a machine-age sculpture: suspended, weightless, and unexpectedly comfortable.

• Cantilevered tubular frame with floating profile
• Genuine leather on all contact surfaces
• Structured saddle-look backing for support and shape
• Channel-quilted upholstery for softer comfort
• Available with matching ottoman

Materials

Genuine Leather
Every surface the body touches is upholstered in genuine leather selected for softness and natural variation. The channel construction creates subtle shaping while allowing the leather to relax and develop character over time.

Structured Saddle-Look Backing
Reverse-facing panels use a smooth structured finish to reinforce the suspended upholstery and maintain crisp visual lines.

304 Stainless Steel Frame
Constructed from polished 304 stainless steel with continuous tubular bends that define the entire silhouette. Strong, corrosion resistant, and visually light.

Design

The original cantilever concept changed furniture by removing rear legs altogether. This version leans into that innovation while introducing a softer, more residential expression.

• Continuous steel tubing creates a floating effect
• Suspended seat responds subtly to body weight
• Horizontal channels break up volume and soften the silhouette
• Open sides maintain visual transparency
• Lower seating angle encourages longer lounging

The Cantilever Move

One of modernism’s most influential ideas: replacing four legs with a continuous bent frame that gives the seat a suspended, almost gravity-defying appearance.

Softened Machine Age

Early tubular steel furniture prioritized precision and efficiency. The channel-filled cushions reinterpret that language with warmth and comfort.

Structure Becomes Ornament

Nothing is hidden. The frame traces the entire profile and becomes the defining visual element rather than disappearing underneath upholstery.

The Floating Seat

Leather is tensioned across the structure rather than stacked over it, creating the signature hovering effect that made this form iconic.
