Inspired by Jean Prouvé’s 1936 Rayonnage Mural, this wall-mounted shelf reflects the architectural clarity and structural logic that defined French industrial modernism. In place of metal, this interpretation uses solid wood—pairing thick red oak shelving with supportive pine uprights—while preserving the original spirit of exposed structure and honest construction.

Material

North American Red Oak
The horizontal planks are crafted from North American red oak, chosen for its dense grain, durability, and warm midtone character. Each shelf plank measures approximately 2 inches thick (5 cm), giving the piece substantial visual weight and structural integrity.

New Zealand Pine
The vertical planks are made from New Zealand pine, a strong yet lightweight wood that provides stability without unnecessary bulk. The thickest portion of the vertical supports measures approximately 2.5 inches (6 cm), reinforcing the architectural structure while maintaining the clean, engineered silhouette that defines the design.
